Orpha E. Wright, 95, Moline, passed away on November 20, 2013 at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Orpha Elizabeth Jacobs was born on August 1, 1918 in Downey, IA, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Rowe) Jacobs. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1936 and married Harrison Franklin (Bud) Wright on December 26th the same year. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. They lived in Moline, Illinois. During World War II she followed her husband to Port Arthur, Texas where they lived until 1946. Upon returning to Moline, she was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company in 1949. She worked in the unit control, auditing and accounting offices until her retirement in 1984. She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her children, Jami Verbeke of Coal Valley, Charles (Chuck) Wright of Las Vegas and Gary Wright of Tyler, Texas, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
