Graveside services for Owen H. "Swede" Johnson, 92, formerly of Moline, will be 9:00 AM Friday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation will be 5-7 PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Johnson died Friday, October 21, 2005 at Kansas Veteran's Home, Winfield, KS. Memorials may be made to the Moline American Legion. Owen was born September 23, 1913 in Moline, IL, the son of Edward and Jennie (Nelson) Johnson. He married Augusta Morel in 1934 in Moline, IL. They were divorced in 1948. He latter married Genevieve Groene. She died February 3, 1982. He later married Frances McClain. She died July 23, 1986. Owen served in the US Naval Air Force from July 15, 1942 until September 24, 1945. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and a life member of the Moline American Legion and VFW. He retired September 30, 1971 from the former International Harvester Works, Rock Island after 37 years of employment. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Walter O. and Evelyn Johnson, Wichita, KS, Step-daughters Barbara Patrick, Oklahoma City, OK and Sharon Hood, Moline, grandson Mark O. Johnson, Lawton, OK , granddaughter Anne Hood and great grandson Ryan Hood, both of Moline. His parents, brothers Elmer, Percy, Warren, Joseph, Wallace and Martin, sisters Florence Johnson, and Garnett Jess precede him in death. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
