Obituary

Funeral services for Patricia A. Bennett, 70, Port Byron, are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Patricia passed away quietly surrounded by her daughter and family after a brief brave and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 21, 2008. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Patricia Nesbitt was born July 20, 1937 in Rock Island, the daughter of John W. and Elizabeth M. (Peters) Nesbitt, both of Rock Island. She married Ronald E Bennett in Palmyra, MO. He passed away August 26, 1996. Patricia was employed by the former Servus Rubber Company Rock Island for 32 years, retiring in 2001. While employed, she was very active in the United Rubber Workers Local 215, serving as union steward, vice president and president. Patricia lived for her trips to Greece to spend time with her granddaughter and great granddaughters. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her numerous bus trips and lunches with her groups of friends and with her sisters. Patricia will be truly missed as she leaves behind her mother Elizabeth Nesbitt, Rock Island, daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Michael Corgan, Port Byron, with whom she resided, two grandchildren Stephanie (Mike) Tsoukalas, of Greece and Jesse (Katrina) Corgan, Colona, five great grandchildren; Peggy and Felicia of Greece and Stella, Emma and Logan of Colona, sisters and brothers-in-law Jeanette and Billy Smith of Rock Island, Alida and Dwayne Lowry, Milan, Carol and Larry Williamson, and Sherrill and Donald Benson, all of Rock Island, a brother and sister-in-law George and Lin Nesbitt Sr., of New Windsor, a sister-in-law Nancy Nesbitt, Milan and Numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her father John W. Nesbitt Sr., husband Ronald Bennett and a brother John W. Nesbitt Jr.
