Patricia Ann Thompson, 69, passed away on December 2, 2024 at her home in Colona, Illinois. Visitation will be 10-11:30 AM Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Private committal services will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Pat was born September 30, 1955 in Moline, the daughter of Louie and Elsie (Jannsens) Viscioni. She was a graduate of United Township High School in East Moline.  She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal and embraced retirement, enjoying traveling with her husband, Ron, and their close friends, and spending as much time with her grandchildren as possible.

You may have known her as Pat Thompson, Pat Hanson, or Patty Viscioni if you go way back, but to me she was Mom. If you spent enough time with her, she probably felt a little bit like a Mom to you too, because like all great Moms she was always giving her time, energy, and love to take care of other people. You may not know that she sacrificed and lived frugally for two decades to ensure I could get the best education possible, and that she was always there to pick me up after I made a mistake (and there were quite a few!).  You may not know that she gave up years of her life that were child-free to take care of her father in her own home, as he suffered from Alzheimer's and needed around the clock care. You probably know how much she adored her grandchildren - that fact she was not shy about letting the world know - and that she is gone from their lives too soon is the greatest tragedy of her story. When she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in January 2023 it was a death sentence, but she still fought it as hard as she could just so her family could have more time to spend with her.  Pat always put her family and loved ones first and she will be missed in our hearts and our lives. We hope that her memory lives on in all of us and we carry out her legacy of laughter, family, and love.

She is survived by her husband Ron, of Colona, who was by her side, lovingly caring for her for every day of her illness; son Michael (Lia) Hanson and grandchildren Colin and Charlotte Hanson, of Glen Carbon, Illinois; sister Michelle Viscioni of East Moline, and brother Tom (Laura) Viscioni of East Moline; sister-in-law, Diana Viscioni; several nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Viscioni; and brother, Gerald Viscioni.

Pat's family is grateful for the UnityPoint Hospice workers, and her home caregivers, who comforted Pat and provided her with the compassionate care that kept her comfortable in her own home until her passing.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Alzheimer Association.
