Paul A. Braeckevelt, 90, Geneseo, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, where the Colona American Legion will conduct Military Honors. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church or to a favorite charity. Paul was born on May 4, 1922 in Moline, the son of Paul and Irma (DeDoncker) Braeckevelt. He married Aileen Bekaert on May 24, 1941 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. He served as a communications Officer in the US Army during WWII. Paul retired as a supervisor from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, St. Pat's Holy Name Society and the Colona American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Aileen, children and spouses, Richard and Joyce Braeckevelt, Geneseo, Beverly and William Buckley, Moline and Patricia and James Bond, East Moline, eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
