Paul Sacco, 90, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will hold a private Mass and a dinner to celebrate his life. Memorials may be made in Paul's name to St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, Beacon of Hope Hospice or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. He was born in Clarkdale, IA, on October 23, 1923 to Charley and Mary (Valentine) Sacco and was one of 10 children. Paul married Mary Roseman in East Moline, IL on August 28, 1948 and they recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. Paul retired from American Air Filter after 38 years as a pattern maker. He was active in contract negotiations and helped establish their credit union which later merged with fledgling I.H. Mississippi Valley Credit Union. Paul enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, reading and following his grandchildren's school and sporting activities. Mr. Sacco was a WWII Marine Corps veteran serving in the South Pacific, Okinawa, Guam, Guadalcanal and the Occupation of Japan. He is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Nancy (Alan) Cook, Geneseo, son, Bruce (Holly) Sacco, East Moline, grandchildren, Kathryn (Edward) Plese, Matthew (Amber) Cook, Benjamin Sacco and Anthony Sacco, great-grandchildren, Andi Schmidgall, Lexi Schmidgall, Sophia Cook, Eddie Plese and Alex Plese, and siblings from Iowa, Mary Ann Wetmore, Clarkdale, Robert Sacco, Cincinnati, Gary (Donna) Sacco, Moravia, Judy (Tony) Buban, Mystic, and Joann (John) Lasley, Moline, IL. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jasper Sacco and Tom Sacco; and sisters, Frances Sacco Kauzlarich and Dorothy Sacco Martin.
