Obituary

Paul R. Vyncke, 90, East Moline, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House Bettendorf. Funeral services are 9 AM Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline, with a rosary recited at 3PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Memorials may be made to the Jordan Schmidt Memorial Scholarship at Alleman High School or to the Believers Together Center at Christ the King. Paul was born on December 26, 1925 in East Moline, the son of Richard and Genevieve Schulte Vyncke. He married Marlowe Techlin on June 26, 1948. She died on December 11, 2008. He graduated from UTHS. Paul served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a civilian weapons repairman during Vietnam War. He worked for the Army Weapons Command at the Rock Island Arsenal and later retired from PECO Enterprises in Davenport. Mr. Vyncke was a Die-Hard Cub fan who was thrilled to have seen his Cubbies finally win the World Series. He loved to sing and enjoyed playing video poker at the casinos. He was a devoted father and grandfather. Paul was proud of the fact that he had built summer homes in Minnesota and Arkansas for his family to enjoy. Survivors include his children, Carol Hultgren (Dennis Sellers), Rock Island, Alan (Peggy) Vyncke, Peel, Ark., Cindy (Bill) McMullen, Moline, Bruce (Becky) Vyncke, East Moline, Rick (Kristy) Vyncke, Colorado Springs, CO and Paul D. Vyncke, East Moline, fourteen grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandson; siblings, Bill (Ruth) Vyncke, East Moline, Jim (Glenda) Vyncke, Andover, IL, Wayne (Ruth Ann) Vyncke, Hayward, WI, Marlene (Mel) Gavin, AZ and Luella Summers, Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by daughter Lori, parents, brothers, Leo and Joe; great grandson, Jordan Schmidt, and son-in-law Larry Hultgren. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Vista and Clarissa Cook for their compassion and care.
