Funeral services for Paul Thomas White, 87, East Moline, are 1PM Thursday at Green Rock Free Will Baptist Church, colona. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where he will be joining his wife Virginia. The East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Mr. White died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the family. Paul was born January 15, 1920 in Forest, IL, the son of Charles and Margaret (Kemmer) White. He married Virginia VanSickle on October 25, 1958 in Evanston, IL. He was an honors graduate from Peotone and Beecher Illinois High School, received his BS from Indiana University and his MBA from Northwestern University. He was a Personnel Administrator and Vice President of prominent business organizations in Illinois, Iowa and Michigan for thirty-eight years. He was past master of the Masonic Lodge and an officer of the Lion's and Kiwanis organizations. Paul enlisted in the US Marine Corp on October 12, 1942. He served honorably for over 3 years, eighteen months in the Southwest Pacific at combat headquarters. Later he served at bases on the East Coast and finally at the US Marine Corp Headquarters in Washington DC. Paul advanced his rank to Master Technical Sergeant and finally to Sergeant Major. Paul credited his military service experience for his success in civilian life. His most appreciated things in life were time spent with his family, his Church, personal friends and the acquaintances made in civilian and military life. For all these things Paul Thanked GOD! Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Marie and Danny Wessels, grandchildren; Jason, Justin, Tara and Ashley all of colona, great-grandchildren Deryck and Devin a brother Joseph Wayne White of Kimberling City, Missouri. Those who preceded him in death are his wife of 42 years Virginia, his parents, a sister Mary Agnes and brothers William Edwin, John Russel, and Charles Francis.
