Funeral services for Peter J. Dokolas, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30AM Tuesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:30PM Monday (today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7:00PM. Mr. Dokolas died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Dokolas was born September 24, 1919 in Zizani, Greece, the son of Dimitrios and Panayiota (Mourdoukoutas) Dokolas. He married Dimitra Tsonis July 23, 1950 in Zizani, Greece. She died September 23, 1994. The Dokolas family arrived in the United States, Christmas Eve, 1967, looking for better opportunities for their family. Pete retired from McLaughlin Body Company in 1982 after 20 years of service. He had been a proud, hard working, and generous man. He had been very involved with his church and community. His hospitality was known to all. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved to celebrate life. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia and Nick Papageorgeou of East Moline, IL, Sofia and Joe Mullins of Mt. Prospect, IL, Paulette and Angelo Stamatoukos of Hinsdale, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Patty Dokolas of Silvis, IL; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Anastia Karabatsos of Westchester, IL, Giannoula Karaglanis of Greece; brother, Theodore Dokolas of Greece.
