Obituary

Peter J. Manzo, 94, East Moline, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015. Peter's family has chosen to have private services. Peter was born in New York in 1921. The last surviving of 10 children, he would reminisce about Joe DiMaggio and the NY Giant's and listening to the radio as a boy, during the depression. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He received many decorations including, the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze star and the Navy USCG unit Commendation Ribbon. He married his wife Doris in New York. Peter received his Bachelors in Business from Union College in Schenectady NY on the GI Bill. He retired in 1979 from the Army Weapons Command at the Rock Island Arsenal as Comptroller and Director of Programs. He loved the game of baseball, loved to work and was a devoted family man. Survivors include his wife, Doris, children; Philip Manzo, Leslie Conroy, Cheryl (John) Scipione, and Peter (Virginia) Manzo, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
