Philip F. Melillo, 77, Moline, passed away on August 9, 2016 after a year long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 3PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline. A visitation will be from 1 PM until service time. Phil was born on April 16, 1939 in New Haven, CT, the son of Philip and Theresa (Saldibar) Melillo. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, where he held various jobs. He married Barbara (Milburn) Townsend on December 4, 1982 in Rock Island. He was an avid Green Bay Packer, Notre Dame and Chicago Cub Fan. He enjoyed listening to 1950's music and dancing. Phil served in the US Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Barb, stepchildren; Deanna (Bob) Pate, Taylor Ridge, Russ (Danelle) Lyon, Richard (Eva) Lyon, Moline and Jay Townsend, Keithsburg, grandchildren; Andrew Pate, Amanda (Curt) Galliway, Cooper (Lauren) Lyon, Decker Lyon, Jacob and Juliana Lyon and Paige and Parker Townsend, great grandchildren; Claire, Archer and Charlie, sister Corrinne Henninger and John Melillo. He was preceded in death by his sons; Philip and Christopher.
