Philip L. "Phil" Mitchell, 80, of East Moline, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. In Celebration of his life, a funeral mass will be held 10:00AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Phil was born July 31, 1934 in East Moline, the son of Wallace and Rita Brady Mitchell. He served in the US Navy from 1956-1960. He married Diane Seaton October 17, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, IL. He retired in August of 1992, after 35 years as an union plumber working out of Plumbers Local #25 Rock Island. He was a Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed reading and golfing at Golfmohr Golf Club, Hampton. He and his wife had traveled over the years leaving them with wonderful memories. The most important thing in Phil's life was his family and many good friends. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Diane Mitchell, East Moline; children, Mark (Denise) Mitchell, Robins, IA, Kathy Mitchell, Aurora, IL, Kevin (Lori) Mitchell, Rock Island, and Julie Mitchell, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Eric Nagle (fiancee, Nancy Najera), Naperville, IL, Austin Mitchell, Aurora, Sam Mitchell, Seattle, WA, and John Mitchell, Robins; brother, Michael (MaryJo) Mitchell, Dunedin, FL; sister-in-law, Marian Mitchell, Rock Island; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Rita Reiner; brothers, Joe, Leo, and Pat Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ARC of East Central Iowa.
