Phyllis E. Allmendinger, 88, of East Moline, passed away Monday February 22, 2021 at her home.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday February 25, 2021 from 5-7PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Due to COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing is required. Private funeral services will be live-streamed 11:00AM Friday at: https://www.facebook.com/VanHoeFuneralHome/
Interment is at Moline Memorial Park, Moline. Memorials may be made to her family to help with medical expenses.
Phyllis Evelyn (Ryker) Allmendinger was born July 23, 1932 in East Moline the last of four children born to Earl and Ethel (McDaniel) Ryker. She graduated from Moline High School in 1950, and married Charles L. Allmendinger on March 8, 1951. He passed away April 4, 2006.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, neighbor and friend. She enjoyed exploring nature and tending her flower garden. She was an artist of many mediums in her lifetime, but mostly enjoyed painting animals on rocks. She was a sculpturist, photographer, poet, singer/songer writer, a published author of children's stories, and story teller extraordinaire. Though most of her working years were spent employed for the East Moline School District, she also worked for Eagle Signal Corp., Whitey's Pie Co., Glamour Isle Clothing, Walgreens, and often worked alongside her husband Charles in his contracting business.
She loved and served her Lord Jesus for many years as a member of Grace Baptist Church, East Moline and later the First Evangelical Free Church, Moline.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Mark (Pam) Allmendinger, East Moline; Steve (Cheryl) Allmendinger, Akron, OH; Paul (Carolyn) Allmendinger, Silvis; Brent (Carol) Allmendinger, East Moline; grandchildren: Michelle Allmendinger, DeWitt; Jamie (Jeff) Osborn, Livermore, CA; Kristine Allmendinger-Goertz (Christopher Page-Goertz), Hudson, OH; Becky (Todd) Newcomer, Plano, TX; Ashley Gregory, Orion; Evan Allmendinger, Silvis; Andrew Allmendinger, Rock Island; Cara Allmendinger, Coal Valley; and Ian Allmendinger, Rock Island; great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Ruby Osborn, Emily and Ethan Goertz, and Sylvia Newcomer; siblings: Joe Ryker, West Hills, CA; Mazie Engwall, West Haven, CT; and Beverly Bush, Woodland Hills, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles.
