Obituary

Phyllis A. Burrell died January 8, 2021 in Rock Island, Illinois at age 71. Phyllis was blessed with many talents and had various jobs throughout her life. Her number one job that she enjoyed most was to love on her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was born September 7, 1949 to Robert and Gertrude Strickland. She married Robert C. Burrell on March 30, 1991. She had seven sisters and four brothers.

She was a devout Catholic who continued to give and light candles for the entire family. She enjoyed bingo, poker, listening to soul music and watching Lebron James (whom she affectionately named Baby Bron Bron). Her main joy in life was spoiling all the kids of the family. She had a huge heart and would give you the shirt off of her back. Phyllis was known to give trinkets to her nurses, the mailmen and anyone else who crossed her path.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, sister (Joyce A.) and brothers (Henry Norton and Robert Arnold Strickland). She is survived by daughter, Nichole Little (Ike), stepdaughter, Kimberly Hill (Howard) and stepson, Anthony Burrell, by grandchildren, Christian, Ciara, DeLaney, Cyrus Little, Courtney, Brianna, Kyle and Nicolas Hill.

Phyllis was Maw-Maw to her nieces and nephews, Candace, Mirsa, Charlotte, Mina, Corey, Brendan, Markus, Malcolm and Marlee and many others. She also left sisters, Hester Johnson, Gloria Taylor, Sharon Camp (Kevin) Judy McCray (Courtney), Beverly Harvey (Dale), and brothers Adrian and Michael Strickland and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, extended family and friends.
