Phyllis L. Felkner, 98, formerly of East Moline, died Wednesday, June 8 at New Perspective Senior Living, Silvis. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 13 at 11:00 AM at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the church. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery . Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, the East Moline Public Library or any charity of the donor's choice.

Phyllis was born October 13, 1923 in Hiteman, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Mandy (Anderson) Peterson. She was a 1941 graduate of United Township High School, East Moline. She married Bob Felkner on November 22, 1947 in East Moline. Bob passed away on October 20, 2014. During WWII she served two years in the WAVES (the US Navy's corps of women in WWII) in Washington DC as a yeoman with the Department of the Navy, Office of Personnel. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after 20 years of service. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a proud mother and grandmother and enjoyed reading, music and playing bridge.

Survivors include daughter Susie (Steve) Kennedy, Milledgeville, IL; son Alan (Connie) Felkner, Bloomington, MN; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, daughter Marcia Smith, son-in-law Deke Smith, three sisters and a brother.
