Funeral services for Rachel E. Barnes, 86, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL, where she had been a lifetime member. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a Liturgy Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Barnes died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, Alzheimer's Association, or the Parkinson's Foundation. Rachel Lambert was born September 25, 1920, the daughter of Oscar and Alida (DeCroock) Lambert. She married Rex Barnes December 4, 1948 in East Moline, IL. He died May 17, 1995. She had worked at the former Licorice Factory, Moline, McLaughlin Moline and the former John Deere Malleable, East Moline. Rachel enjoyed reading, crocheting, and doing needlework but most of all, she loved spending time with her granddaughters. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Debra and Mark Wiedenhoeft of Geneseo, IL, Carolyn Barnes of Silvis, IL; granddaughters, Krista Wiedenhoeft and Kara Wiedenhoeft; sister, Judy Lambert of East Moline. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mary VanDeVoorde. The family would like to thank everyone who helped take care of Rachel over the past few years, especially those at Heartland Health Care.
