Obituary

Funeral services for Ralph L. Brown, 78, of East Moline, IL, will be 1:00PM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Mr. Brown went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport, IA. Last Rites were accorded. Memorials may be made to the Monsignor Cleary Endowment Fund. Ralph was born August 25, 1933 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Elijah and Margareth Doering Brown. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953. He married Marlene Cooper May 16, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, IL. He retired from Alcoa, Bettendorf, IA, January 1, 1989, after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer at Golfmohr and bowler at Highland Park. Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Marlene Brown, East Moline; daughters, Jody Brown, Phoenix, AZ, and Dee (Reggie) White, Geneseo, IL; sons, Dennis Brown, Venice, FL, and Gary Brown, Brooksville, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany Brown, Jessica (Levi) Sanders, Amy Brown, Ashley Brown, Melissa Brown, and Andrew Bush (Caitlin Gayda); great-grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas Sanders, Xavyer Boone and Jacob Brown; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Engesser, Boden, IL, and Susan Mueller, MO;brother, Don (Laura) Battin, Helena, AL; stepbrother, Almer (Elsie) Battin, Coal Valley, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerald and Roger Brown, James Patrick Bennett, Larry Mueller and William Battin, and stepsister, Anita Battin.
