Funeral services for Ralph A. Orsi, 80, East Moline, are 1PM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Hampton Cemetery. Visitation is 3-6PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the World Wildlife Federation. Ralph died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island. Ralph was born August 1, 1930 in Webster City, IA, the son of James and Anna (Giovanardi) Orsi. He retired in 1992 from the finishing department of the former Case-IH, East Moline. Ralph had a passion for figuring out what made things work. He was environmentally friendly before it was popular. He was featured in a hometown magazine in Wisconsin for a power inverter invention he designed. Ralph was well known for his dancing at Quad-City summer dance events. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Ralph had great interest in the studying of Esperanto and promoting the metric system. Survivors include his loving companion of 38 years, "his main squeeze" Harrietta Conklin, children; Nita (Gregg) Shaw, Sterling, IL, David Orsi, Bettendorf and Donna (Kurt) Winter, Clinton, IA, and other family members Judy Scott, Erie, IL, Linda Barrett, Arlington, VA, John Conklin, West Branch, FL, and Janice Conklin, Moline, and "grandchildren" Eric Conklin and Catherine Pratt. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Leonora Loring.
