Funeral services for Ralph W. Shaw, 81, Port Byron, are 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, IL. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Shaw died Friday, March 25, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. He was born February 25, 1924 in Canton, IL, the son of Willard and Molly (Kefauver) Shaw. He married Mary Louise Marsoun. He later married Patti Melvin Shull, October 3, 1992 in Round Rock, Texas. Ralph worked at the former East Moline State Hospital and later retired from the East Moline Correctional Center in 1989. He served as Hampton Township Clerk for several years. Ralph was known for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had been a Green Bay Packer Fan for 70 years. He loved the game of Golf. He ran the Rule 1 Golf League for 20 years and was referred to as the Commissioner. Even though Ralph was legally blind he managed to score 2 holes in one. He enjoyed Fantasy Baseball and trips to the Quad City Downs. Survivors include his wife Patti, son Curtis Shaw, Bedford, NH, step children Christi Jo (Mike) Robinson, Albany, IL, Leigh Ann (Larry) Sheppard, Moline, and Jeff (Karen) Shull, East Moline, grandchildren Brittany Shaw, Caroline Shaw and Sara Shaw, and step grandchildren Stephanie Shull, Thea and Samantha Vancil and Holly Schumaker. His parents, a brother, and a sister precede him in death.
