Ralph H. Stoedter, 73, East Moline, passed away Wednesday May 27, 2020 at home.
A military honors ceremony will be held 10AM Monday June 1, 2020 in the front of Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Those wishing to attend, may do so by parking in front of the funeral home and remaining in your car. Funeral attendants will be present for guidance. A private burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ralph was born March 24, 1947 in Rock Island, a son of Karl and Helen (Hansen) Stoedter. He graduated from UTHS, class of 1965 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps on February 26, 1968 and was honorably discharged May 2, 1972. He saw action during his service in Vietnam, and later, in Operation Desert Storm. After returning home from Vietnam, he earned 2 BA degrees from St. Ambrose University in Criminal Justice and Business. He worked as an East Moline Police Officer for 4 ½ years, and then went on to work in security at John Deere PDC in Milan and retired after 30 years of service.
He loved spending quality time with his family, and friends of all ages. Ralph was a staunch Republican and let you know it. He was a member of the VFW Post 8890, American Legion Post 227, UAW Local 865, all in East Moline and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie, children: Shannan Stoedter, Paige Stoedter, and Shae Stoedter; 3 grandchildren, Ashlyn, Andrew and Maddie; siblings: June, Beverly Jean, Joyce, and Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Betty and John "Jack" Stoedter.
