Obituary

Ralph E. Wilshusen , 84, of Silvis, IL, passed away Thursday May 1, 2025, surrounded by his family, at New Perspective, Silvis.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 9th, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Interment with military honors will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Ralph was born March 21, 1941, in Yuma, Colorado, the only child of Richard and Mary (Gowen) Wilshusen. He married Lucretia "Lucy" M. Beth on September 24, 1966, in

Rochester, MN.

He graduated from Colorado State University and then from Mayo Clinic School of

Physical Therapy in Rochester, MN. Ralph proudly served the United States Navy as a physical therapist in Queensboro, NY for 3 years. He was a physical therapist for 47 years with Trinity, Rock Island. He served on the Illinois Physical Therapy Association Board, Chairman of the Western District and was also the State Nominating Chairman.

Ralph was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He enjoyed helping with the Friday Lenten fish fry's, Sunday morning breakfasts, "Just Faith" rummage sale, the annual summer fiesta, and other church involvements.

Other memberships and community activities include the Past President of the Exchange Club of the Quad Cities, served as a chairman and board member of the Moline Municipal Credit Union, Silvis School District board member, Silvis Civil Service Commission, Habitat for Humanity, and with his wife, Lucy, hosted an annual 4th of July community breakfast.

Ralph loved sports and playing golf. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Colorado State Rams. He enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables with Lucy at their home.

Some of his favorite times were those spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren whom he fondly named "The Magnificent Seven, Honyockers". He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend to many. Ralph will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucy, of Silvis; daughter, JoAnn Spreckelmeyer, and her fiancé, Rick Mitchell, Marthasville, MO; son, Michael Wilshusen, and his wife, Mindy, Colona, IL; and his grandchildren, Jena Spreckelmeyer, Owen Spreckelmeyer, Ryan Spreckelmeyer, Emily Wilshusen, Abby Wilshusen, Lilly Wilshusen, and Avery Wilshusen.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.
