Ramona D. Gomez, 90, East Moline, passed away on March 18, 2015 at the home of her daughter Anita in Jarrell, TX. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3PM. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus Austin Texas Branch. Ramona was born on August 31, 1924 in Ft. Madison, IA. She worked at Sheaffers Pen, Mother's Pie, Buddy-L and Sears. She volunteered for many years at Illini Hospital, St. Mary's Library and reading to grade school students. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Church in East Moline. She liked to take walks, dance, knit, crochet, follow Cubs baseball and loved singing in the choir at St. Mary's and then later at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Survived by children, Gloria (John) Grypp, Moline; Anita (Carl) Sundberg, Jarrell, TX; Samuel M. (Hortensia) Gomez, Omaha, NE; and Jacquelyn (Dan) Finley, Verona, WI; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. Preceded in death by parents, first husband Efren Alvarez, second husband Samuel J. Gomez, sister Jacqueline Alvarez, great-grand daughter Chloe Madison Robinson.
