Memorial service for Raphael "Ray" Terronez, 61, of Moline, IL, will be 1 pm Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL.

Visitation will be 10:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 10am. Mr Terronez passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, after a long fight with leukemia.
Ray was born October 2, 1960, in Moline, the son of David and Rose (Ponciano) Terronez. He married Nikki Richardson. Ray's last employment was at The Crown Group in East Moline. He was an avid Kansas City Chief and St Louis Cardinal fan. Child number 7 of 9 grew up in the West End of Moline. Ray attended Ericsson and St Mary's school in Moline; graduated from Alleman High School and attended Marycrest College, Davenport. He enjoyed bowling, basketball, football, wrestling, and golf. In the summer of 79, Ray began his coaching career starting with his little brother's 8th grade slow pitch softball team, his sisters' softball teams, and little league teams. Ray's adventurous side took him to California, where he was a Shipping and Receiving Clerk for Steel Case, Santa Ana, eventually returning back to his home town. Ray was instrumental in the start-up of the Moline Community Oriented Policing (COP) Program for his childhood neighborhood. His most memorable times were with his dad and brothers, shooting picks and pool for many years.
Survivors include his son, John David (Kaila) Appleman, Denver, CO; grandson Jax; step daughters, Heather and Erin; step grandchildren, Conrad and Hayden; siblings, Christine (Phil) DeMink, Tipp City, OH, Gilbert (Juanita) Terronez, Moline, Celia (Rick) Riesebieter, Coal Valley, IL, Kathleen Terronez, Rock Island, IL, Marguerite Terronez, East Moline, Maria Escontrias, Bettendorf, IA, Andrew Terronez, Moline, and Benedict Terronez, Moline; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; niece, Jennifer Beserra; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis West, UnityPoint, Bettendorf, University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Compassus Hospice of Iowa City and the YMCA personnel.
