Ray E. Youngblood, 91, of Moline, IL, passed away Monday March 20, 2023, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living, Moline.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial with military honors will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, where he was a member.
Ray was born December 10, 1931, in Hiawassee, Georgia, a son of Pengry and Verna Wood Youngblood. He married Esther Harness on May 27, 1955, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2017.
Ray was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for 34 years with American Air Filter. He then worked for the Greater Quad City Auto Auction for many years.
Ray loved fishing, gardening, watching sports, and listening to Gospel music. Some of his favorite times were spent with his family.
Surviving are his children, Ken (Deb) Youngblood, Milan, Don (Sandy) Youngblood, Rock Island, and Cathy (Mark) Maze, Maquoketa, IA; grandchildren, Nathan (Kathleen) Youngblood, Nicholas (Laura) Youngblood, Sarah (Eddie) Shamblin, Anna Youngblood (Jay Beckman), Megan Hill and Dalton (Payton) Youngblood-Saller; great-grandchildren, Noah, Peter and Grant Youngblood, Chelsea and Avery Shamblin, Trevor, Zack, and Aubrey Beckman; siblings, Della Mae Dearing, Gene Youngblood and Barbara Hyatt, all of Hiawassee, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife; infant son, James David Youngblood, great-grandson, Greyson Hill; parents; brothers, Hubert, Bill, Owen, and Lawton Youngblood, and sister, Ruth Stamey.
