Raymond E. Douglas, 95, formerly of East Moline, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge, IA. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 4-6PM. A Time of sharing will be held a 6PM. Private inurnment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Ray was born on January 22, 1919 in Sherrard, IL, the son of Harry and Zella Chambers Douglas. He married Julia Gridley on September 29, 1945. Mr. Douglas had worked for Desaulnier's and later retired from the former International Harvester works, Moline. He was a 60 year member of Silvis United Methodist Church, Ray enjoyed reading the newspaper, reading Zane Gray Westerns, gardening and driving. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Julia, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Patricia Douglas, grandchildren, Valerie McInroy, Shannon Hyde, Nathan Douglas and Adam Douglas, and great grandchildren, Ian, Rebekah, Maya, Tanner and Mac. He was prededed in death by his parents, siblings, Glenn, Ferne, Elmer, John, Floyd, Robert and Mary.
