Rene A. Dinneweth, 69, Moline, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is 3-7PM Friday (today) at the funeral home. Casual attire would be most appropriate. Graveside services will be 9:30 AM Monday at the Rock Island National Cemetery, with the Colona American Legion Post providing Military Honors. Anyone wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home by 9AM Monday. A memorial fund has been established. Rene was born on November 8, 1945 in Rock Island, the son of Robert V. and Mary (Veryzer) Dinneweth. He married Judith Fry in the summer of 1966. They had been a couple since 1964. Rene graduated from UTHS, class of 1963. He was a proud member of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He used his GI benefits to further his education at Black Hawk College. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, a proud veteran and Union Member. Of all his good qualities, his devotion to family, friends, his brothers and sisters in uniform and his fellow IAMAW, were above all. He worked tirelessly for his fellow workers. He worked at American Air Filter until they closed in 1985. He was elected as a Business Representative for District 102 and later District 6 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers AFL-CIO. He recently received his 50 year membership pin. During his time with the union, he served at 1st Vice President for the Illinois State Council, and Delegate for the Quad City Federation of Labor. He received a degree in labor studies and continued his education throughout his career. He served as a union steward, grievance committeeman and chairman of the negotiating committee at AAF. He was also Vice President and President of IAMAW 2045, District 102 Delegate, Illinois and Iowa State Council of Machinists Delegate , former IAMAW National Convention Delegate and District 102 Business Representative. Rene retired in 2012. He is survived by his wife Judy, children, Mark (Tara) Dinneweth and Marci R. Dinneweth, grandchildren, Malia, Kilee, Taylor, and Cade Dinneweth, Devin and Bryce Rasche, and great grandchildren, Alexander and Atticus Henricksen, sister, Diane (Richard) Carter, Silvis,brother, Robert (Louise) Dinneweth, AZ, brother-in-law Dr. Norman (Jeannette) Fry, nephews, Dan (Vien) Carter, Brooks Fry, Brandon Fry, and Dustin Fry and niece Mauli Fry. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, nephews David Carter, and Brian Dinneweth and several beloved aunts and uncles. A special thank you to the Extraordinary EMT's and the Moline Police Department. His life was well lived. He would say...Go Cubs! Go Bears! That Damn Cutler!
