Funeral services for Rene Vande Voorde, 90, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mr. Vande Voorde died Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to the Monsignor Cleary Endowment Fund or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Mr. Vande Voorde was born September 26, 1917 in East Moline, the son of Maurice and Mary (Beheydt) Vande Voorde. He married Irene Verstreet April 24, 1941 in Moline, IL. She died October 23, 1991. He retired from the former John Deere Malleable, East Moline, in 1972 after 37 years of service. He had been a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Viking Club, Moline. Rene enjoyed racing pigeons and had been a member of the former East Moline Pigeon Club. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Ron Merideth of Silvis, IL, Linda and Gary Goldsmith of Venice, FL, Sue and Ray Van Acker of Colona, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Vande Voorde of East Moline; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, great granddaughter, Marissa Merideth who died in 1999, daughter-in-law, Margaret Vande Voorde who died in 1998, and grandson-in-law, Scott Myers who died in 2000.
