Richard E. "Dick" Jensen , 87, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 at his home in East Moline.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 18th, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19th, at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be designated later.
Dick was born October 28, 1936, in Dwight, Illinois, a son of Elmer and Louise Anderson Jensen. He graduated from Dwight High School.
He married the love of his life, Conchita "Connie" M. Romero on November 10, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV.
Dick served in the US Army Reserves. He was an Inventory Management Specialist for many years at the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in 1992, and he & Connie enjoyed snowbirding in Yuma, AZ for many winters.
He was an avid golfer and had made a hole-in-one. Dick was a passionate fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Illini teams. Some of his favorite times were those spent with friends and family, especially cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Family was the most important thing to Dick especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Connie, of East Moline; children, Lydia (William) Matya, Marc (Tisha) Sandoval, and Sandra Sandoval (Robert) Klouser; grandchildren, Natosha Ramirez, Alex Sandoval, Raquel Cross, Deanna Sandoval, Terra Peterson, Jamie Schiff, Jordan Matya, Kayla Matya, and Bobbi Matya; 15 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Keith (Betty) Jensen; sister-in-law, Barbara Jensen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Louise; brother, Kenneth "Kenny" Jensen and his in-laws Luis & Consuelo Romero.
