Funeral services for Richard A. Harness Jr., 86, of Moline, IL, will be noon Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 10:30 AM until noon at the funeral home. Mr. Harness passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at UnityPoint, Rock Island, IL.

Richard was born October 24, 1937, in Redbud, IL, the son of Richard and Hazel Ragsdale Harness. He served in the U.S. National Guard. He married Mary Brennan December 20, 1958, in Rock Island. She passed away September 1, 2011. Richard retired from Parr Instruments after 42 years of service. He was an avid outdoors-man who loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his children, Beth Roberts, Moline and Brian Harness, East Moline; daughter-in-law, Cathy Harness, Silvis; grandchildren, Amy, Mary, Alex, Jamie, and Joanne, great-grandchildren; Gauge, Kaylee, Payton, Jorden, Prescilla, Angel, Stella, Isaac, Austin, Jack, and Colby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Mitchell and Michael Harness; and siblings, Ronald Harness, Ester Youngblood, Jack Harness, Gene Harness and Jessie Harkinns.
