Richard E. "Bud" Hendricks, 80, East Moline, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at his home after a nearly 7 year battle with cancer. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Two Rivers YMCA. Richard was born August 10, 1931 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Jesse and Edna (Williamson) Hendricks. He married Zelma Bailey, October 26, 1952 in Ottumwa, and together they had a daughter Beth. He later married Marian Watnem on August 12, 2000 in East Moline. Mr. Hendricks started at John Deere on August 1, 1964 as a Junior Engineer at Deere and Co. He retired from John Deere Harvester in the Division of Process and Tool Engineering after 22 years on June 1, 1985. He enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching, working on cars and spoiling his grandchildren. Richard served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was proud of his military service. Survivors include his wife Marian Watnem, daughter and son-in-law Beth and Ken Roberts, East Moline, step daughter Kathie Hemmingson and her husband Kimbel, Geneseo, granddaughters Tess and Sadie Roberts, both of East Moline and Brooke Nienhaus and Brooke Hemmingson, both of Geneseo. He is preceded in death by a brother H. Earl Hendricks and a sister Anita Dooley.
