Richard L. "Dick" Smith, 84, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island, IL.

As per Dick's request, graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dick was born December 10, 1939, in Kewanee, Illinois, a son of Gerald and Mercedes (Hampton) Smith. He married Marcella Searcy on May 1, 1963, in Missouri.

Dick was a proud US Navy veteran. He served for four years abroad on the USS Oriskany.

He was a member of the AFL-CIO and worked at Case IH for many years. He retired in 1992.

Surviving are his wife, Marcella; children, Lori (Mike) Ayers, Amee (Todd) Stetter, and Ryan (Tara) Smith; He was "Pa" to 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister, Sally Lane; brother, Orlie Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Dick was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Robert "Bobby" Smith; parents; and two brothers, Thomas and Jerry.
