Funeral services for Richard "Dick" Podlashes, 73, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. Podlashes died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center East Rusholme Street, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church for the Stained Glass Window Restoration or to Alleman High School. Dick was born October 26, 1938 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Dorothy Horton and John Podlashes. He was a graduate of Alleman High School class of 1957, where he had played with the 1956 Hall of Fame Football Team. He received his bachelors degree from St. Ambrose College and his masters degree from Western Illinios University. He served in the US Army. He had worked at John Deere Plow Planter and retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline . After retirement he taught Computer Technology at Black Hawk College, where he had been an adjunct professor. Dick was a "master gardener" who enjoyed spending time in his yard. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren . Survivors include his wife, Carole Podlashes of East Moline; daughters, Christina (Mike) Peterson, El Dorado, KS, Julie (Stephen) Sheets, Rock Island, IL, Jackie (Chris) Arguello, Greenwood, IN; son, Steve Podlashes, East Moline; grandchildren, Katelyn and Daniel Podlashes, Matt, Zach, and Nate Sheets, and Ryan Peterson; sister, Vickie (Larry) Dodge, East Moline; sister-in-law, Barb Herbert.
