Funeral services for Richard G. Rangel, 74, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. Rangel died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Genesis Medical center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Richard was born March 24, 1934 in Moline, IL, the son of Hilario and Lena (Blanco) Rangel. He married Lucy Valladares October 27, 1978 in Silvis, IL. He served in the US Army. He had been a hard worker all his life. He served as an alderman in Silvis. He had worked 10 years for the former Rock Island Lines, Silvis, and retired from the former Case/IH East Moline in 2004, after 40 years of service. He loved to cook and dance. He owned and operated Elegante Catering Service for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving, husband, father, and grandfather. He had been a member of the Father Pro Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis and a member of the VFW 8890, East Moline. Survivors include: daughter (fiancé) Estreya Luz Rangel (Salvador Garcia) of Moline, IL; son, Ricardo Rangel of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Gabriel, Anthony, Mercedes, Reyna, and Prescila; sisters (brother-in-law), Dolores Rangel of Moline, Bernadette (Maurice) Schaecher of Des Plaines, IL, Estella Rangel of Des Plaines, Cecilia Rangel of Rock Island, IL; brothers and sister-in-law, Arthur Rangel of Dubuque, IA, Hilario "Henry" (Celia "Sally") Rangel of Davenport, Bernard Rangel of Silvis, P.Mike Rangel of East Moline,; several nieces and nephews;and his uncle Simon Blanco of New Mexico He was preceded in death by his parents.
