Funeral services for Richard L. Schell, 71, East Moline, are 10:30 AM Tuesday at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, Silvis. Burial is in Greenveiw Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8PM Monday (today) at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Richard died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. He was born April 18, 1939 in East Moline, the son of Herbert and Bernice (Sheppard) Schell. He married Gloria Somner in July, 1971. He retired as an Inspector from Case-IH in 1991 after 30 years with the company. He loved to play anything that made music. He was in the Banjo Club, Moline. He loved gardening and cooking. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had served as a union steward at Case-IH. Survivors include his wife, Gloria, children and spouses; Richard and Connie Schell Jr., Milan, Renee and John Tysma, East Moline and Travis and Dawn Schell, Moline, grandchildren; Amber, Andrew, Brandon, Brooklynn and Madyson, a great grandson Jayden Orey and a brother and sister-in-law David and Judy Schell, East Moline. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Barbara and Janet.
