Richard L. Shadden, 69, East Moline, died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services are 9AM Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Anyone wishing to attend cemetery rites should meet at the funeral home at 8:30 AM. Richard was born February 3, 1943 in Hillsboro, IA. He retired as a dock man from Roadway Trucking. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He married Thomasa Garcia on September 20, 1997 in East Moline. Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and tinkering in the garage. He was a good father, step-father and loved his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Thomasa, daughter Shawn (Brad) Everett, Grand Mound, IA, stepchildren, Nora Noriega, Payson, AZ and Jesse (Nana) Noriega, East Moline, grandchildren, Megan, Blake, Adiana, Tristan, Eliseo, Kiara, Artatum, Asiel and Cataleya, sisters, Betty McClain, Davenport, Delores Fryxell, Rock Island, Barbara Veach, Mendota, MO, and Pat Sury, Unionville, MO, and a brother Bill Shadden, Coal Valley. He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father Marie and Bob Mooris, and siblings, Bob, Wanda, Jean, Tom, Margel and Judy.
