Rita J. Soliz, 88, of Silvis, IL, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at NorthShore Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A Rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Rita was born May 22, 1935, at a midwife's house on Hero Street in Silvis, IL, a daughter of Epimenio and Angelina (Rivera) Rangel. She married Paul L. Soliz on August 17, 1957 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2003.

In earlier years, she had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Sears, was a licensed dietician, and was a licensed cosmetologist. Rita was a wonderful cook, baker, and gardener. Some of her favorite times were those spent with friends and family.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; daughters, Sara Soliz, Maria Elena Soliz; son, Henry Soliz; grandson, Joseph Velez; son-in-law, Tom Sandoval; and siblings, Ernest Rangel, Lina Ortiz, and Anselm Rangel.
