Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Blount, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 10 am Friday, February 25th at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 pm Thursday, February 24th at the funeral home. Mr. Blount passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at his home.

Bob was born May 2, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of John and Margaret (Wills) Blount. He served in the U.S. Army First Calvary during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Ruth Groharing October 23, 1978, in Hampton, IL. He retired from John Deere Foundry after 30 years of service. First and foremost Bob was very competitive, an avid bicyclist competing in many events over the years. He built and raced cars and boats. He ran many biathlons and triathlons. He enjoyed playing handball at the YMCA with his friends and hiking in the country with his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Anne Blount, East Moline,Janie Blount, LeClaire, IA, and Brook (Lisa) Garman, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Angelo Williams, Jaylen Frazier, and Alexia Garman; siblings, Diane (Victor) Bast, CA, and Joe Blount, CA. He was preceded in death by parents and sister, Linda Papandrea.

Memorials may be made to the family for a bench to be placed in a park.
