Robert G. "Skip" Brink, 77, of, East Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL, from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Chicago, IL and adopted by Rev. Frederick and Florene Payne Brink of Moline, IL. Skip graduated from Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, IL. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict in the mid 1950's. Music was his greatest interest in life. He had his own band in High School and played trumpet in the Marine Corp Band. After military service, he taught piano at Simon Music Co., Moline, and played up-right base with "Bo Warden & the Hell Rockers" in Rock Island. He took an interest in Hammond Organ and teamed with the late Warren Parrish on "The 20th Street Strip" in Rock Island. During his career he toured with Dous, Trios, and Show Groups across the country and returned to the Quad Cities in 1976 where he appeared at the Red Carpet and Caseys, Moline, Rexies Gourmet House, Rock Island, among others. He was a member of the Tri-City Musical Society where he served as Secretary of the Local 67 for 10 years. Per his instructions, there will be no visitation or services. A Memorial Jam Session is being planned for a date to be announced later. Survivors include 2 nieces; a nephew; companion, O.J. Rosenberg, East Moline; his 2 cats, Muffin and Mr. Ted. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
