Robert C. Burrell Jr., 76, of East Moline passed away Saturday April 11, 2020 at home. Cremation has been accorded. Services will be announced later in August. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery at that time. Memorials may be made to the family. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., in East Moline has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert was born March 30, 1944 in Rock Island, a son of Robert C. Sr., and Clara (Dixon) Burrell. He graduated from UT High School, class of 1962. He proudly served our country in the US Army until being honorably discharged in 1967. He married Phyllis Strickland on March 30, 1991 in Rock Island. She survives.

He was an electrician with the IBEW Local 145 for many years until retiring in 1990 due to illness. Playing Bingo was his world. He was known as the Marathon Man, as he would run 10 miles every day. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and brother. He loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Phyllis, children: David Carrington (Pam) Clinton of IN, Kimberly (Howard) Burrell-Hill of Atlanta, GA, Anthony Burrell of Atlanta, GA, Nina Nicole (Ike) Little of Moline; grandchildren: Carrington, Cameron, Ciara, Chris, Delaney, Cyrus, Brianna, Kyle, and Nicholas; siblings: LeRoy, Belinda, Earl, Vanessa, and Cassandra; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Brenda, and cousins, Leonard and Mansel.
