Robert James Crum, 72, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home. As per his wishes, there will be no services. Robert was born October 10, 1940 in Davenport, IA, the son of Robert L. and Ruby Mae Deyo Crum. As a young man, Robert worked in his father's business, The Superior Cabinet Company. He also worked at Service Rubber and John Deere Foundry. He was a forklift driver for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, retiring after 30 years of service in 1992. Robert married Joyce Carol Mabbie in Pollock, MO. She died October 20, 1977. He later married Karen Sue Lindemann Thomas on January 22, 1983 in East Moline. Robert graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959 and continued his education at Scott Community College where he studied mechanics and obtained his CDL license. He then worked for Winger Trucking, Davenport, Star Transport in Morton, IL and also drove a van for LaQuinta Hotels, Isle Capri, Bettendorf, He also worked at Short Hills Country Club, East Moline. He also attended Black Hawk College where he studied and assisted in the development of an online reading class. Robertв??s hobbies included racing ѕ Midgets and Full Midgets for 26 years, video games, and building model cars. He was a member of the N.H.R.A. He enjoyed traveling, going to Sprint car races and being with family, friends and his faithful dog, в??Tucker'. Surviving is his wife, Karen; daughter, Theresa Crum (Dale Gimm), Davenport IA; sons, James L. Crum, East Moline, Scott Thomas (Laura Suedmeier), Aberdeen, SD; granddaughter, Latrisha Lake; grandsons, Dustin Crum, Johnny (Michele) Flannery and nine additional grandchildren; great grandson, Joshawa Johnson and six additional great grandchildren; sister Anna Mae Spangler, Detroit MI; brother, Larry (Donna) Crum, Moline; aunt and uncle, Joann and Robert Claussen, Preemption, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his first wife he is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Jo Crum, brother, Michale Crum, and daughter, Debbie Crum.
