Obituary

Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Daggett, 78, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Daggett went to his heavenly home, Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Celebrate Senior Living, Moline, IL.

Bob was born March 27, 1947, in Beardstown, IL, the son of Rozelle and Wilma Futhey Daggett. He was a graduate of Moline High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

He married Betty VanDeVelde July 2, 1966, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, IL.

He retired from John Deere Harvester Works after 30 years of service as a punch press operator. While in retirement he had numerous jobs to stay busy, such as selling cars, and working at a few different retail stores. His love of communicating with customers was what he enjoyed most.

Bob was a man whose life was filled with love, joy, and unwavering faith. He cherished every adventure he shared traveling with his beloved wife, creating memories that will forever be treasured. One of his greatest joys in life was being the biggest fan of his grandchildren, always cheering them on, celebrating their accomplishments, and showering them with encouragement and pride. His deep love for God guided the way he lived, giving him strength, purpose, and a heart full of kindness toward everyone he met. Bob's legacy of faith, devotion to family, and love for life will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bob often reminded those he loved, "Don't be sad when I'm gone—be glad I've gone home." His family and friends will forever feel his presence in the gentle warmth of the sun on their shoulders, the quiet beauty of a butterfly passing by, and the small, everyday moments that reflect the love he shared so freely. Though his absence leaves an ache in the hearts of those who miss him dearly, his words remind them to find comfort and peace in knowing he is home, surrounded by God's eternal light.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty; daughter, Kara (John) Tristan, Colona, IL; son, Brian (Sarah) Daggett, Silvis, IL; grandchildren, Keaton Herman, Katie (Ian) Danley, and Alie Daggett; great grandchildren, Sydney and Benjamin Danley, sister-in-law, Clara Daggett, Harrodsburg, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Daggett.
