Robert D. Dunlap , 70, of Moline, IL, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, in East Moline, IL, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life event will be held Sunday, Nov 2nd, at The Palace Tavern 701 15th Ave, East Moline, IL 61244. The event will be held from 2pm to 5pm.  Van Hoe Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family in care of his son, Marcos Gutierrez.

Robert was born on September 7, 1955, son of Kenneth and Patricia (Stulir) Dunlap. He was formerly married to Maria "Sue" Gutierrez.

As a cook, Robert worked at the East Moline American Legion and Ben's Gourmet House in Rock Island, later retiring from Harmony in Davenport, IA.

He was an adventurer, camping all over the country. In time, his backyard became a pocket of paradise, a place where all manner of life thrived, from his plants to his pets.

Those who will cherish his memory include his son, Marcos Gutierrez; former wife, Sue Gutierrez; sister, Debbie Dunlap; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Espi Gutierrez, Celia (Forrest) Spicer, Gabriel (Norma) Gutierrez, Elvia (Augie) Rodriguez, Martha Gutierrez, Pablo Gutierrez, and Saul (Marci) Gutierrez; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Patricia; brother, Frank Dunlap; grandmother, Ann Varner; and brother-in-law, Sam Gutierrez.
