Funeral services for Robert E. "Bob" Miller, 83, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 Monday at the First Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Miller died Thursday, October 02, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Bob was born June 26, 1925 in Sterling, IL, the son of August and Rheta "Effie" (Magner) Miller. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Doris Swanson December 21, 1944 in Davenport, IA. He retired from the Army Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal in 1980 after 35 years of service. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church East Moline and Pheasant Runners Camping Club. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Doris Miller of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Miller of Indianapolis, IN, Bonnie and John Van Houtte of Colona, IL, Cindy and Brian Hodson of Moline, IL ;son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam Miller of Silvis; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren ; sister, Etta Mae Fisher of Silvis.
