Robert D. Felkner, 91, of Silvis, died Monday, October 20 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23 from 4 to 6:30 PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. A Masonic service will follow from 6:30 to 7:00. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 24 at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with East Moline American Legion Post 227 conducting military honors. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline or to the East Moline Public Library. Bob was born December 26, 1922 in Numa Iowa, the son of Gail & Mabel (Barton) Felkner. He married Phyllis Peterson on November 22, 1947 in East Moline. During WWII he served three years in the South Pacific with the US Army Aviation Engineers. Bob was a member of the East Moline American Legion where he served many years as a member of the color guard. He retired as a set-up man in machining at John Deere Harvester, East Moline, after 40 years of service. He served 10 years as a trustee at the East Moline Public Library. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years; and a Past Master of the East Moline Lodge and a current member of the Silvis Lodge. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 64 years where he served for many years as a member of the "TTT Gang". He was a proud father and grandfather and enjoyed music, golf, gardening and playing bridge. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; daughter Susie (Steve) Kennedy, Freeport, IL; son Alan (Connie) Felkner, Bloomington, MN; son-in-law Harold Smith, East Moline; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
