Obituary

Funeral services for Robert J. Knobloch, 85, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 3:00PM. Mr. Knobloch died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at his home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St Anne Catholic Church or Genesis Hospice. Bob was born November 28, 1922 in Silvis, IL, the son of Joseph and May (Nobbe) Knobloch. He married Ann V. Veys July 7, 1947 in East Moline. She died April 20, 2007. He served in the US Army during WWII. He attended St. Ambrose University and Engineering School in New York City. In his early years he worked at the family business, Knobloch's Poultry Market, East Moline. He then owned and operated Knobloch's Paint and Wallpaper, East Moline. He later retired from John Deere Foundry, East Moline in 1985 after 20 years of service. Bob had been very active in the church and community. He had been a charter member of the local Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus. He served as an East Moline 1st Ward Alderman for 8 years. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Ken DeBlieck of Moline, IL, Shirley Tanner of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy and Manuel Bustos of East Moline, IL, Sharon and Art Gilley of Colorado Springs, Joan and Ben Rogers of Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Lyn Knobloch of East Moline, Mark and Deb Knobloch of East Moline, Craig and Barbara Knobloch of East Moline; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jacob, Lucas, Zachary, Samuel, Alexander, Mitch Knobloch, Harry Tanner, Jonathan, Joseph, Jeffrey, Joshua Deblieck, Clinton & Karissa Gilley, Adrian, Nicholas, Benjamin Antao; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Abigail, Samantha DeBlieck and Connor Gilley; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Maurice Bossuyt, Tucson, AZ He is preceded in death by his: parents; wife; brothers and sister-in-law, James and Dorothy Knobloch, Ralph Knobloch.
