Funeral services for Robert E. (Bob) Lemen, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30 Thursday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 6:30. Bob lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospital Pancreatic Cancer Research. Bob was born April 21, 1932 in Durham, MO, the son of Lyman and Viola White Lemen. He married Bessie Zarlatanes April 22, 1955 in East Moline. He retired from Rock Island Packaging in 1996 after 23 years of service. He then owned and operated Mowers and More Outdoor Lawn and Garden Equipment Sales and Service since 1996. Bob had been a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where he had been the first non-Greek member of the Church Council. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, dancing, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite memories included the birth of his daughters and grandchildren, trips to Hawaii and Greece, and his granddaughters' weddings. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bessie Lemen, East Moline; daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Moore, Affton, MO, and Evie (Craig) McLaughlin, Conifer, CO; grandchildren, Abby (Ian) Van Anden, Christopher McLaughlin, Carolyn Ashley, and Sawyor Ashley; brother, David Lemen, Monroe City, MO.
