Obituary

Robert J. Lindley, 95 of Mission Viejo, CA died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Saddleback Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patricia J. Lindley (née Blackman), four children, daughter Barbara Laukaitis and husband Ed of Naperville, IL, sons Robert J Lindley, Jr and wife Tracie of Draper, UT, Michael Laval- Lindley and husband Christian Laval-Lindley of Paris, France, and Christopher Lindley and wife Susan of Mission Viejo, CA. He was grandpa to 10 grandchildren as well as 13 great grandchildren. His passing is also mourned by many nieces, nephews and friends including David and Beth Mahlo of Rock Island. Mr. Lindley was a Purple Heart veteran of WWII in France. He was a member of the 1953 International Barbershop Champion quartet, The Vikings, named after the mascot of his alma mater at Augustana College where he graduated in 1949. Bob began life on July 16, 1922 in Rock Falls, IL. He was raised by his loving mother and father Cora Lindley (née Casey) and Fred V. Lindley in Rock Island, IL. He played high school baseball and was a National Honor Society member at Rock Island High School. He also sang in the choirs at Rock Island High and Augustana College where he was a member of the BOS Fraternity. He served as director of the Chambers of Commerce in Geneseo, Pekin and Bloomington, IL before finishing his career in Chicago as Executive Director of The American Association of Medical Society Executives in 1988. A celebration of his life was held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Grace Hills Church in Laguna Woods, CA filled with his favorite music and attended by his children, family and friends.
