Robert "Bob" Lonstad, 80, Colona, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services are 11 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the Colona American Legion will conduct military Honors. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Bob requested that casual attire be worn or anything Cubs.

Bob was born in Fergus Falls, MN on August 6, 1938, the son of Melvin and Marjorie Lonstad. Following graduation from Moline High School in 1956, he enlisted in the US Air Force and received his honorable discharge in 1962. He married Karen Sheese on June 10, 1961. Bob was the Colona Postmaster for six years; then transferred to the Rural Carrier Craft. He retired in 1995 with over 38 years of Federal Service.

Bob enjoyed fishing trips to Missouri with Art Ash and Bob Baze, and Quad City Hockey with Gary Halsted and Gary and Carol Kilstrom. Bob was an original committee member of the Colona Memorial Day Parade, founded in 1971. He served on the Colona Library Board, Colona School Board, Colona Township Trustee and Henry County Board of Review.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Karen, daughters; Stacy (Kirk) Vollrath and Shelley (Santos) Mejia, both of Colona, grandchildren; Amanda Sandoval, Amber Carter and Noah Mejia, great-grandchildren; Logan Coakley and Elijah Sandoval, siblings include; his sister Margaret Marsell, East Moline, brother Brian Lonstad, Vancouver WA, additional family members include Pat Ogden, East Moline, Reg (Joellen) Bacorn, East Moline, Godchildren; Guy Cady,and David DeWayne Cady, Colona, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Green Rock Free Will Baptist Church or the Colona Fire Department.
