Funeral services for Robert J. McHenry, 88, of Moline, IL, known to many as "Worms", will be 2:00 PM Sunday at the Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville, MO. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery, Putman County, MO. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline, IL, and 6-8 PM Saturday at the Luscan Funeral Home. Mr. McHenry died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McCune Cemetery. Mr. McHenry was born August 6, 1916 in Putman, County, MO, the son of George W. and Jessie (Martz) McHenry. He married Ruth Sharrar, January 22, 1938 in Kirksville, MO. He later married Nina Hodge, January 15, 1960. She died October 23, 1987. In his earlier years he had worked as a welder. He retired as a crew leader for Iowa Illinois Gas & Electric August 31, 1981 after 30 years of service. He was quite the golfer, golfing his age for many years. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed ice fishing and playing cribbage. He had received the Neighbor of the Year Award in 1998. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Roberta and Lanny Wright of Moline, IL, Kathleen and James Baraks of TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry W. McHenry of New Boston, IL, Kenneth E. and Janette McHenry of Cedar Grove, TX, Michael D. and Pamela McHenry of San Antonio, TX; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Vyca Cowan of Unionville, MO.
