Funeral services for Robert E. McMillin, 84, Lake Wales, FL, formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 5-8 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church. Robert died April 16, 2006 at Dove Health Care Center, Lake Wales. He was born May 10, 1921 in East Moline, the son of Harry and Augusta (VanTeighem) McMillin. He married Marvis E Granell, July 4, 1942 in East Moline. She died in 1993. Bob retired as a meat cutter from J & B Meats, Coal Valley. After retirement he and his wife moved to Florida and he worked as a security guard at the Registry Resort in Naples, FL. He was a member of the AMVETS, the Moline Viking Club and a life member of the American Legion and enjoyed bowling and boating. Bob served in Africa and Italy with the US Army during WWII. Survivors include his son Bradley R. McMillin of Lake Wales, his sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bill Nelson, Silvis, brothers Don of East Moline and Joseph of California, sisters-in-law Margaret McMillin, East Moline and Delores McMillin, Rock Island and several nieces and nephews. His parents, sister Pat Freymann and brothers Arthur, Harry Jr., and Chuck preceded him in death.
